The Cisco NPE-G2 is the latest high performance Network Processing Engine for the Cisco 7200 series modular routers. The NPE-G2 delivers double the performance of the NPE-G1 and offers three Gigabit Ethernet ports, one 100Mbs management port, and two USB ports for additional storage via USB memory sticks. Because of the built in interfaces and management port, an I/O controller is optional but not necessary. The NPE-G2 also has double the PCI bus speed on the I/O slot which dramatically increases the performance when using the VPN Services Adpapter (VSA) with the 7200XVR series routers
